I was born and raised in Miami Florida. I went to a small private school called Riviera Preparatory School in Coral Gables. Though as a child my lifestyle was sedentary, I always had an itch for adventure and travel.
ReplyDeleteIn 2016, I decided I wanted to make a chance. I moved to Paris for sixth months where I lived with my cousins and continued my education. I studied at Sorbonne University so that I didn’t fall behind in school.
Immediately I fell in love with the culture and city. I loved the vibrant nightlife, beautiful parks, and the chance to experience a new culture. In Paris, I learned not only the importance of new experiences but how be independent.
After half a year, I moved back to Miami to finish out my high school career. Though I loved Paris, it was nice to see all of my friends and family again. There is always something calming about going home. Fast forward through a relaxing summer and I began my career as a student at Florida State University.
This part of my life taught me a lot about myself. It helped me create a perspective on life and what type of person I want to be. I also learned a lot through the constant transition. Adapting from high school to living in Paris was one of the biggest challenges I have ever faced. While exiting, the lifestyles are completely different. The hardest part was finding a new friend group.
Going back to high school was interesting also. I felt as though I had a lot more life experience than my peers. Studying abroad had taught me how large the world is and that is something I will never forget or take for granted. After a few weeks a slowly integrated back into my old lifestyle and things quickly began to become normal again.
Because I was so experienced in transitioning lifestyles, my move to Florida State University was as smooth as can be. I quickly found new friend while maintain previous relationships with friend and my boyfriend. I can’t wait to find out what future challenges lie ahead.
Non-Conventional Families are very common in today’s society. Andrea Munoz is very familiar with the concept, as she was born into non-married parents, with two completely different cultures. Her mother is Colombian, while father is white, exposing her to both cultures while growing up. Her mother taught her Spanish and took her to Colombia to visit family and learn her roots and environment first-handed. Although not having her parents married did not really matter or affect her while young, her parents splitting up was much easier and faster because of it. Both of her parents ended up moving on, and even finding new life partners. While the issue was never with Andrea herself, the falling out of her parents resulted in a falling out with her and her father as well. Having a father not be there for a daughter can be very hard to deal with it, but her step father ended up stepping in and becoming the father that she needed and wanted. While she never got to be close with her father after their break up, she remained extremely close to her father’s parents- her paternal grandparents, which is one of the most important and special relationships she has. Her mother and stepfather built a relationship and ended up wanting to move from Miami to Ft. Lauderdale, taking Andrea and her older sister along with them. She got to travel, make memories, and experience life because of her stepfather, which really connected them. Their favorite place to visit is Colorado.
ReplyDeleteTraveling became one of her hobbies, which sparked a love for reading and writing. She had no direct reason to want to pursue a teacher career, other than her passion for Education. She was sure that she wanted to get into an English Education major once she got into Florida State University, but plans do not always work out. The love she had for literature quickly lost its importance to her because it became much more of a chore or obligation, rather than something she truly enjoyed. Andrea is exploring her options and leaning towards a Psychology major. Besides her confusion with what path she wants to take, she knows she wants to stay at Florida State because of how much she grew to love North Florida over the past year. Once she graduates, she plans on either staying in North Florida or moving to her favorite place, Colorado.
Charles Herbert Saul was born on December 18 in Plantation Florida. Much like me he has been florida grown and has never been far from the beach and palm trees. Him and his family loved going to the keys for vacation Charles was a very energetic child who loved to play sports. Ever since he was little he was absorbed in sports. Charles loved all sports and played most of them with his friends. However, he really like football. He started with flag football and worked his way up to tackle football in the sixth grade. Also while he was young he loved to ski down the slopes of Utah.
ReplyDeleteEver since he was eight years old he would go to the Miami Dolphins football games. Going to these games really drove his interest of the sport which eventually led to him playing for most of his current life. Not only did he support the Miami Dolphins but he is also a Miami heat fan and was lucky enough to actually see lebron james play in a playoff game for the Miami heat. Not only did he get to see Lebron but other NBA legends Chris Bosh and dwyane wade play in the year that the got the the national championship.
School for charles was not a problem. He coasted through it with little to no problems. He started elementary school at silver ridge and later went on to go to middle school at indian ridge middle school. After making it through middle school he made his way to Archbishop Mccarthy High school. There is where he loved to play for the school football team. Not only did he play for the football team but he also played for its lacrosse team for two years. After high school Charles finished high school he made his way to florida state university which he loves and plans on staying here for the next couple of years to eventually get his degree.
Mitchell Bluh grew up in Palmetto Bay, Florida. He began his early years with a group of friends that would end up being his best friends throughout most his time in Palmetto Bay. They went through all of elementary and middle school together, but when high school came around it was time to split up. Most of Mitchell's friends attended more preppy high schools. Mitchell wanted to be an engineer so he decided to go to a school named Terra specifically geared towards engineering classes. It turns out Mitchell absolutely hated math which was obviously contradicting for an aspiring engineer. He also had a crazy teacher that tried to screw him over, and the kids were honestly all kind of weird. Because of this, Mitchell decided to transfer to Palmetto Bay High School. His long-time friends also hated the strict preppy schools they went to so they decided to transfer to Palmetto Bay as well. Mitchell was really excited about this because now he would be going to school with his best friends that he would usually be hanging out with everyday. Switching high schools from a nerdy engineering school to a more diverse school like Palmetto Bay gave Mitchell new interests and hobbies like Rock Music and becoming interested in film. When it was time to apply for college Mitchell only applied to one school because he knew that school was the only place he wanted to go. All of his friends were also planning on attending this school too. This college was Florida State University. When Mitchell was accepted to Florida State University he was excited but also worried about having to do new things like living with a roommate and having to find your own food to eat. Despite Mitchell's worries he assimilated to the college life very smoothly. He is now dating a girl that he met a floor below him in his dorm and is a studio art animation major. When Mitchell graduates he plans on getting a job in animation because he wants a job that interests him and is fun.
ReplyDeleteKyle was born in Orlando, Florida. He has two younger sisters and a younger brother, and a sweet dog named Kota. He loves playing and going on walks with Kota. Kyle has always understood that he comes from a family that is fairly well off, but has never let that stop him from working hard. In middle school he joined the rowing team. He would get off school and go straight to rowing practice not returning home until about 7 at night. These long days and almost five hour practices were tough on Kyle but taught him a lot about hard work and he is grateful for it. When he got to highschool, Kyle then joined the baseball team. Baseball became his new favorite sport. He cherishes the memories he made with his teammates. Although Kyle has had many different interests throughout his life, the one thing to remain constant is his love for cars and motorcycles. He loves everything about them. Driving them, working on them, and even cleaning them. He sees himself making a career out of his love for automobiles and can not wait to further explore this passion of his.
ReplyDeleteIn 2017 Kyle received his acceptance letter to Florida State University. Although he has never thought of himself as much of the studious type, he was excited to continue you his education at Florida State. He was especially excited to leave home and gain some independence. Growing up in Orlando, he knew the one college he definitely did not want to go to University of Central Florida. Not because of any other reason than that it was just simply to close to home. He wanted to travel and gain life experience in college and knows the best way to do this would be to go to a school a little farther from home.
He gained much of this life experience when he and his buddies traveled to Europe recently. They went to six different countries including Amsterdam and Switzerland. As soon as he got off the plane he couldn’t wait to explore. They traveled, met new people, tried new food, and even stopped a mugging.
A Short Vignette on Nick Granberry’s Life
ReplyDeleteNick Granberry, to his close friends “cranberry”, grew up in Melbourne, FL.
Having been in catholic private school from pre-kindergarten to the eighth grade he decided he had enough and went to a public high school. He lived the life similar to a beach bum in that he loved to surf, fish and practically anything to do with the water or near the beach. Nick also has an older brother who is the complete opposite of him who currently attends the University of Florida. Nick enjoys eating anything good, listens to all types of music and still stays close to his religious roots. He also was raised by a mother who played tennis and Nick was at one time was one of the top 25 tennis players for his age in Florida. Sadly, he quit playing his junior year of high school because he wanted to take a different path. At the age of seventeen he became a life guard at his local beach. He’s saved a life and has helped people countless times while on duty. In high school, he also started weight lifting and has taken on a few other jobs in search of his passion. In high school, he was interested in becoming a dentist, but, decided that that job wouldn’t be as interesting after a while. Nick has also worked for a real estate company located in his home town and this is something that sparks interest with him currently. His father who he admires dearly for his hard work and determination also works in the field of finance by traveling the world as an international banker. What Nick likes to do now is lift weights, go out, hang out with friends and also be a part of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Nick also plans to study finance and real estate similarly but not the same as his father here at Florida State University, he already has experience working in the real estate market and plans to further progress up the ladder. Laney lives 3 minutes from the beach and has always loved spending countless hours basking in the sun. She has one older sister and one younger sister. When they were little both of her sisters would side against her, but her animals were always there for her. She has a dog, cat, and turtle. This same affection was shown when she was talking about her work as a CNA. She decided to become a CNA in high school. Laney knew her work as a CNA would help her fulfil her dreams of becoming a Nurse Practitioner. She had always hoped to attend Florida State University. On December 8, 2017, she would finally find out if that hope would become a reality. She called her older sister on the phone, who attended FSU, and logged onto the portal. The FSU chant song started blaring from the computer. She was going to be a Seminole! Her sister’s tears of happiness could be vividly heard through the phone. At Florida State, Laney would be majoring in nursing. This was an easy choice for her and had been something she had wanted to do for her whole life. However, it would not come without any challenges. She is struggling in Chemistry but is fighting for success. After getting her registered nursing license, Laney wants to move to California or Colorado. Out west, she will be able to experience and understand life in a whole new way. She will meet new friends, but also bring some old ones with her. Laney has met a lot of new people at Florida State University. ReplyDeleteAs the end of senior year approached, Ellis new he would have to make a decision fast: leave his hometown surrounded by the culture and city life the child within him loved or escape his comfort zone into the realms of an unfamiliar state. He adored the high-end country club neighborhood he grew up in with the beautiful white gate that opened just for him as greeting each time he entered the community. He played not only football and soccer but created a brotherhood among the athletes in his school and kids he still calls best friends even to this very day. This was his life. The best part: a thirty-minute drive to one of America's hottest cities, Atlanta. Ellis loves the city more than anything else, the metropolitan ambiance inspires him and gives adrenaline to the mundane. How could Ellis leave all this behind while pursuing the next chapter of his life, a career of independence, experience, ups and downs: college. Here's the catch: Ellis is a man full of curiosity and love for cultural and ambiance differences, as traveling has cultivated his perception towards life. To add to this, Ellis wanted, needed, an escape from the red neck mainstream and southern tone he lived in. Although surrounded by both the serene and pleasant suburb, just a car ride away from the classy and extravagant city, Ellis did not want to be imprisoned with the mundane routine- he desired a change that would inspire his adventurous taste. Senior year had finally come to an end and with two incredible challenges to decide from: stay or leave, he chose to start his fall semester at UGA. Once fall semester ended, he realized Florida State University had always been and still is his dream school. It had been a no brainer to him when Florida State University delivered cultural differences, energetic, social lifestyles, all in the heart of the political capital- which just so happened to cater towards the passion of Ellis, politics. He transferred for spring semester and now, Ellis, who is now nearly ending his freshman year at Florida State University could not be happier with the decision to step beyond the boundaries and live in Tallahassee while attending Florida State University.
ReplyDeleteDavid Silverberg was born August 6, 1999 in St. Pete Florida. Ever since he could remember he was on the water: fishing, spear fishing, and tubing. David explained his activity on the ocean stemmed from his Dad’s love of going out on the boat. The craziest memory he can recall from his childhood was falling off his boat going 30 miles an hour, he explained that he skid on the water and can still remember the pain. Since kindergarten David has been playing baseball and he stayed at it until senior year of high school. He played first base for a dominant travel team. His team was so good they got to the semis of a tournament in New York with over 100 teams. His fondest memory of baseball growing up was playing in a tournament in the Dominican Republic, his coach set up the tournament in his hometown of Punta Cana. His favorite sports teams are the Tampa Bay Rays of the MLB and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL.
ReplyDeleteDavid’s dad was born and raised in St. Pete while his Mom was born on the opposite side of the world in Gedera, Israel. He has fond memories of traveling to Israel, the most memorable moment from Gedera was sky diving at the age of 15. He explained that Israel has looser regulation and he was able to jump at such a young age to join his sister for her birthday jump. David has two sisters; one younger, still in high school, and one older, a junior at UCF. While he was still in high school David worked for his Dad, who owns a jewelry store. He would clean the jewelry and learned how to make simple repairs to watches and rings.

Alexis Kelly, better known as Lexi, was born in a suburb of Chicago on June 1, 1999. Being the youngest with two older brothers, Lexi considered herself as somewhat of a “tomboy” growing up. With her Dad being a huge sports fan and almost making it to the Chicago Bears football team, Lexi was constantly surrounded by sports from an early age. Even though she considers herself bad at sports, her whole families interest in sports was spread to her. She stated how she really just enjoys team sports, which is why she participated in many different sports from an early age. Lexi was also briefly in theater and did multiple shows. Even though she was very humble about her short theater career, she stated how she was the lead in multiple shows so she must have been talented. She eventually quit and stated how she had no issue being on stage but when she had to perform solos it was a different story. Going through the teenage years Lexi did what most kids do, she went school and spent time with friends. During her later years of high school, Lexi developed a group of very good friends, which she still spends time with when home from school. After being accepted to FSU, Lexi decided to attend. Since attending FSU Lexi stated how she mainly spends time doing school work and with friends, as she did back home. During spring break Lexi and her friends decided to go to Miami. They stayed in an amazing location, right in the heart of South Beach, Ocean drive and 14th Street. Spending lots of time on the beach and enjoying the weather, Lexi regarded the trip as a great one. When finally coming back to Tallahassee after spring break, Lexi’s boyfriend came to visit. Her boyfriend is in the Navy and because of that they do not get to see each other very often. He has been in Tallahassee for over a week now and Lexi seemed happy that he was here. She also spoke very highly of him about how he was very thoughtful and would drop everything to do anything she asked him.
ReplyDeleteChristin Carr was born in Miami, Florida on August 13, 1999. Shortly after his birth, Christian, his older brother, and his mother and father moved from Miami to Amsterdam, Netherlands so his father could pursue a career in telecommunications. After a couple years in Amsterdam, Christian and his family moved back to Miami because his father’s job needed to transfer employees to a different location. Ever since Christian can remember he’s been traveling, something he still enjoys to this day.
ReplyDeleteAt a young age, Christian found a passion for swimming and became an avid swimmer for over six years. Once Christian entered high school, his passion for swimming laps in pools expanded to surfing in the ocean. Growing up in Miami, Christian said it was impossible to avoid the beautiful beaches that surrounded him in a picture-perfect surfing environment. His love for surfing led to him getting a job at a local surf shop in Miami, where he worked for two years. While working at the surf shop, Christian became focused on saving his money so he could buy a car as soon as he turned sixteen. Once Christian had enough money for the car he wanted, he quit his job and bought a car so he could spend more time surfing as opposed to selling surf boards. Christian described buying his car as the best purchase he’s ever made because it allowed him twice as much freedom.
While in high school, Christian and his family traveled to Copenhagen, Denmark, which Christian described as his favorite vacation and the most interesting city that he has visited. During his vacation, Christian attended a Manchester United soccer game, his favorite sports team, he was in awe after seeing the team play in person for the first time and hopes to return to Denmark in the future in order to watch the Denmark National team play a match.
While currently enrolled in Florida State University, Christians majors in hospitality, and currently works at a hotel in Tallahassee, he has hopes of become a hotel manager in the future so he can travel the world while being payed. Aside from becoming a hotel manager, Christian also has considered joining the Peace Corps after graduating college.
On October twenty second 1998, Maxx Schoenblatt was born. He and his family resided in miami and have continued to live there ever since. Miami is known to outsiders as a party place with crazy nightlife and beaches, but to Maxx it’s something different. It’s the place where he would play with his big brother, or go dirt biking, or just hangout with his four best friends. It is the place he learned and grew and the place where he got knocked down and learned to get back up. When Maxx was little, around five years old, his parents got a divorce and his father lost his job all in a very short time span. His father managed many restaurants in his lifetime, but the business he was managing at this time went under and they shut down. It was a hard time for their family with all of these big changes, but they managed to overcome their troubles and smile through it. They worked out a schedule where he would stay at his dad’s sometimes and his mom’s the rest. Later on his dad met a woman and fell in love, and they gave Maxx a little brother. He didn’t see as much of his dad as when he was little, but they were still really close and would ride dirt bikes together every sunday. Maxx was big into riding dirt bikes and even got a few medals from it, but now he is much more into skating and focus’ his talents there. Him and his friends love to skate together and hang out all the time. They’ve been close for years and maintain a strong bond even at school. When Maxx was in high school he visited his brother at college. He went to a very small, liberal arts school and Maxx thought that might be the school for him, everyone there was so welcoming and enjoyable to be around, but it was just a little to “free spirited” for him. He then turned his sights onto FSU and made the brilliant decision to further his schooling there.
ReplyDeleteAna Omura had a childhood not too much different from mine or any other of my friends growing up. She grew up surrounded by friends and family, in a town where your neighbors were your friends. She spent a lot of time with her grandparents and even tried her hand in playing soccer. There is, however, one stark difference to be noted: she grew up in Brazil. She had the unique opportunity to embrace its beautiful culture, and even has attended the famed Carnaval festival. Her parents split up at a very young age, so the impact of it was lessened. It hit a little harder for her older brother, but the two have since accepted it and are happy with the family dynamic they have evolved into. Her mother remarried an American man, who moved the family to Winter Haven, Florida when Ana was thirteen years old. Ana had to say goodbye to her grandparents, father, and step-sister that would be staying behind in Brazil. Her stepfather actually legally adopted her brother, so her family unit would always be strong. She had to start out at a new private middle school in eighth grade, but to Ana this wasn’t the end of the world. While apprehensive about a whole new group of kids, she was accepting of the entire situation and adjusted quickly. She didn’t care about her slight accent, as she was already speaking English and excelling in her classes. The school had her attend church services, where she made friends that would become ones to last a lifetime. She went on to high school in Winter Haven, and lived just like any other teenager. She found passions in learning about makeup, reading when she had the time, and even experimenting with cooking for her vegan diet. After her acceptance to Florida State University, Ana knew right away that she wanted to major in Biology and Chemistry to pursue her dream of becoming a plastic surgeon in osteopathic medicine. The hard work and long schooling is not a hindrance, but rather fuel for her goals. She has the support of her longtime best friends who are right alongside her at FSU and of her family both here and in Brazil.
ReplyDeleteHi my name is Chase Kobylarz and music has had my heart since I could remember. The first instrument I learned was guitar in the fourth grade and I immediately realized that music and making music was my passion. After learning the guitar and seeing how many different components there was to music I couldn't stop my desire of learning new instruments. I followed my passion by attending a school of the arts for middle school. In sixth grade I learned to play the clarinet, which to this day is my favorite and main instrument of choice. Following learning the clarinet I picked up the saxophone in seventh grade. In eighth grade alone I learned the piano, bass guitar and started being a conductor in a band. High school came and I had a choice whether to attend public high school or continue in a school of the arts; there was not even a decision to make. My high school was a very prestigious high school for the arts where I was given the opportunity to travel around the country performing in a Wind Concert band (band primarily of wind and percussion instruments). I have performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, which is the first performance hall ever in the United States. I also traveled to Chicago to perform in the Chicago Mid West Clinic, where thousands of people from around the world come to share their work of musical art. Now being a student at the Florida State University I am not ending my true passion. I am studying music education and looking forward to keep performing and to achieve my dream of being a music instructor for those that have the same love for music that captivated me.
ReplyDeleteIntroduce myself? Okay, uh hi, my name is Samantha Prince, but my friends and family just call me Sam.
ReplyDeleteA little about me? Well I was born and raised in Orlando, Florida which is pretty much in the center of Florida. I was born on Saturday, May 22nd, 1999 in the afternoon. I am an only child but when I was three I met my best friend Abby. Being so young, it was almost like she was my sister, so it made being an only child a little bit better. She is by far my ride or die. I have a dog named Red, he is a red bone coon hound. I have a cat too and they get along really well.
Where did I get my education? I went to a private Christian school until 5th grade. After that, I went to a charter school from 6th to senior year of high school. I got my appendix taken out around 7th grade which was painful but a cool story. There were only one hundred students in my graduating class, so everyone was super close. All the girls dated all the same guys which is really weird when you think about it. There were a lot of arguments because of this, the girls would get mad when their friend dated their ex, but I didn’t really care about any of that. In high school, my main focus was cheerleading for my school’s sports and getting into College. I want to go to college at Florida State University and eventually become a nurse anesthetist.
My favorite things to do? Well I really enjoy going to the beach and exploring new things. My favorite beach is New Smyrna; it’s so pretty. As a matter of fact, I traveled to the Dominican Republic just last summer with my parents and Abby. We went ziplining and it was a lot of fun. We got lost on the way there and had some good laughs. And yeah, that’s pretty much my whole life!
Gabriela Malicki was born in Maryland, to Mr. and Mrs. Malicki, with her little sister following a few years later. From a young age, all she wanted to do was sing, a passion that was developed into an impressive talent by the encouragement of her family. At the age of seven, due to her father’s job, Gaby and her family moved down to Orlando, Florida. Her parents divorced not long after, but both eventually remarried, giving Gaby and her sister step-siblings.
ReplyDeleteIn 2013, Gaby Started Timber Creek High School in Orlando, where her musical talent had an opportunity to flourish. She graduated in 2017 and set out, ready to start her life. She began her colligate education at Florida State University in 2017, where she knew she would be able to find herself and prefect her talent. She is currently a Vocal Performance Major, as she hopes to turn her passion into her career.
It was November 7th. To anyone else it was an average Friday. To Annalise, it was her special day. It was her birthday. She was turning 16 at the time and had never spoken to him before. She woke up, put on her favorite outfit and headed off to school. As she settled into class, she caught his gaze. She had known who he was for a while. She always became slightly nervous in his presence. Although a word had never been exchanged, they had always given each other courteous smiles whenever they happened to pass each other in the halls. On that special day, he happened to speak to her for the first time. He wished her a happy birthday. It was subtle and not some grand gesture but it did the trick. Although such a seemingly small gesture, it was the beginning of something. This was the first time he had gathered the courage to talk to her. From that day on, conversations weren’t so rare anymore. Later that month, his assigned seat got moved next to hers and they were able to strike up a friendship. The following semester their classes aligned again but then the summer came. They stopped the conversation over the break but it picked right back up their junior year. It wasn’t till near the end of 11th grade that a real relationship began. A whole year later these once strangers are still together and definitely bot strangers anymore.
ReplyDeleteLaura was born in Columbia, moving to the United States as a 6 month old infant. Her family began their journey in Houston, Texas for a period of time before relocating to Miami, Florida when Laura was around 3 years old. During her early childhood she enjoyed watching Dora and grew to love Disney Channel as well. Some of her favorite movies growing up consisted of Disney and Princess movies, an all time favorite being High School Musical. In fifth grade, Laura's family made another move to Atlanta, Georgia. It was then that she discovered her parents had been secretly divorced for years. They would sleep on different wings of the house, but to Laura this was the norm. Her parents both remarried, introducing many additions to the family. Laura has a half brother named Sebastian who is 3 years old, her mom's son. Her dad has a 5 year old son named Danny as well. Laura enjoys spending time with her brothers, but despises her step-dad's children who are controlling and unpleasant to say the least. However, she has a close relationship with both of her step-sisters on her father's side of the family. Laura was a dancer from the young age of 3 until she was 17. She has a long distance boyfriend of 13 months, living and attending school in West Palm. Laura met him her freshman year of high school and they were good friends for two years before starting a romantic relationship. Laura made one final move back down South to Tampa, Florida the summer before her junior year before coming to Florida State University in Tallahassee. Laura likes going to the gym to stay active, and played soccer in middle school and high school quitting before her senior year. Reading in the teen section at Barnes and Noble and band searching on Spotify are among some of the things she likes to do in her free time. Her parents had very different views on parenting, her mom being extremely authoritative while her dad was on the other side of the spectrum being very permissive. Laura was even able to convince him to allow her to vacation with her boyfriends family in Miami. During the her separate drive down to Miami to meet them, she would experience something mildly traumatizing while evading serious trouble... to this day never being found out by her parents.
